In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Arina Voronova, the Adobe Color Profile, a productive quarantine, the new iPad Pro, Monterey Bay Aquarium and copyright registration fees.
- In The Act of Love: Using Photography to Spread Unity During a Pandemic, Nadja Sayej covers Arina Voronova's street art project The Act of Love "aimed at promoting love and support at a difficult time."
- Jim Kasson delves into Camera Differences in Adobe Color Profile. The cameras involved are the Fujifilm GFX 100, Nikon Z7 and Sony a7R IV.
- Portrait photographer Sam Haddix has some harmless ideas for spending The Most Productive Quarantine Ever. "I do hope that each person that reads this will find a little time each day to take a break from all the craziness in the world and concentrate on their craft, their artistry and their creativity," he writes.
- In Apple Announces a New iPad Pro and Signals the End Is Coming for Laptops, Raymond Wong suggests the new 11- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro (starting at $799 and $949, respectively) could be "could be the new student laptop." Here's the less amusing video of the two Apple has produced to introduce the ingenious new configurations:
- In Watch the Aquatic Animals at Monterey Bay Aquarium, Grace Ebert lists a few free live streams showing off jellyfish, sharks, penguins and birds. (You can practice your reaction time by grabbing screen shots.)
- Carolyn Wright lists the New Copyright Registration Fees Effective March 20. "For photographers, the most economical way to register your copyrights is in a group of published photographs or a group of unpublished photographs," she writes. "The fee remains the same at $55 for each group registration."
