In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Covid-19 Archive, Abstract Expressionism, Kelby's free webinars, disinfecting gear and the 2020 MacBook Air.
- Marigold Warner reports Public Source Is Building a Collaborative Archive of Life During Covid-19. Manchester-based publisher Public Source is featuring work by photographers and writers from across the globe who are recording life during the outbreak of coronavirus on the Covid-19 Archive.
- An image by Aaron Siskind inspires Harold Davis to consider Abstract Expressionism and Photography. Siskind's image is based "more about formalism and positive vs. negative space than about a specific subject," he writes.
- Scott Kelby is launching Free Live Online Photography Webinars. The first started at 11 a.m. ET today but there will be more:
- Roger Cicala, who "was a physician in my past life," explains How to Disinfect Camera Equipment and Spaces. "I'd recommend just not sharing cameras on a shoot, right now," he writes in what is probably his best advice (you can't infect yourself, after all). Meanwhile beware the bloggers, in the habit of writing authoritatively, who can't stop themselves from criticizing public health policy or medical advice they really don't know anything about. They're not just irresponsible; they're dangerous.
- In No News Is Good News, Jason Snell reviews the new 2020 MacBook Air, comparing it to the third-generation iPad Pro . Wish he had evaluated the color display in comparison to the MacBook Pro.
More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
