In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at remembering 135photojournalists, the Trussell Trust, Carl Corey, Bob Dechiara, Jim Kasson, point-and-shoots worth pocketing, iPhone close-ups and an iPhone SE camera comparison.
- Tad Bartimus revisits a 2008 piece, A Homage to the Photojournalists Lost to Decades of War in Vietnam, on the 50th anniversary since the beginning of the Cambodian campaign.
- In Famous Photographers Donate Prints for Food Banks, The Guardian presents a few images by Martin Parr, Nadav Kander and Elaine Constantine that are among 160 British and U.K. photographers who have donated images to sell for the Trussell Trust.
- In Jeff Schewe, Carl Corey in Conversation With Kevin Raber, Schewe profiles his friend Corey. The copious illustrations include product shots (or you might think of them as portraits) of Corey's Mamiya Universal 6x9 rangefinder camera with a Leaf Aptus digital back that Corey calls the Lud-O-Flex.
- Photographer and graphic designer Bob Dechiara tells how he broke into pro sports photography.
- Jim Kasson has been working on A New Series involving a bamboo sculpture.
- Dan Havlik lists The Five Best Compact Cameras for 2020, including point-and-shoot models from Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Ricoh and Sony.
- This 7:30 video from the iPhone Photography School reveals a few iPhone Close-Up Photography Secrets in the Italian Alps on a wet, rainy day (you could do worse):
- Juli Clover compares the cameras in the 2020 iPhone SE vs. iPhone 8 and iPhone 11 Pro. "The iPhone SE is a passable camera of course that's going to take great every day shots, but those seriously interested in better iPhone photography should take a look at the iPhone 11 over the iPhone SE," she writes.
