In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Phil Bergerson, John Hryniuk, the Lightroom interface, Simon Phillips, the De Young Open and big Olympus discounts.

  • Love Thy Neighbor showcases the photos of Canadian photographer Phil Bergerson capturing "the humor and pathos of the country next door." More accurately pathos and humor these days.
  • Heidi Volpe interviews John Hryniuk about his monochromatic Covid-19 Portraits. "These are indeed historic times we are experiencing at the moment during Covid-19 and we as artists should all try and document this in any way we know how," he says.
  • Julieanne Kost explains Working With Modules and Panels in Lightroom Classic. Helpful for anyone interested in mastering and customizing the interface.
  • Eyal Molinas interviews nature photographer Simon Phillips. "Photography for me is also a way to help deal with my anxiety and depression. As someone who has Autism I find it hard to connect with people but photography is a great way of engaging with others in my community and worldwide," he says.
  • The De Young Open is "a juried community art exhibition welcoming submissions by artists who live in the nine Bay Area counties" to celebrate the museum's 125th anniversary. Submissions will be accepted between June 1 and 14 on the museum's Web site.
  • Olympus is discounting its Micro Four Thirds cameras significantly. Visit Adorama and B&H for the current deals, which knock $200 to $600 off the list price.

More to come! Meanwhile, please support our efforts...
