In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Iringo Demeter, Big Kid Circus, Tatsuya Tanaka, the Google Pixel 4A, Instagram tips, Google's free backup tool and a new iMac.
- Romanian photographer Iringó Demeter Observes the Beauty in the Details, Stephanie Wade writes, "featuring close-ups of skin, gesture and body contact."
- Christopher Thomond presents a few images of Big Kid Circus Performing After Lockdown. It had been stranded in Morecambe by the government-imposed lockdown since March. Could the audience be cutouts?
- Masks, Toilet Paper, and Thermometers Transform Into Miniature, Outdoor Adventures in these amusing images by Tatsuya Tanaka.
- Dieter Bohn reviews the $349 Google Pixel 4A. And he gets right to the camera. When it comes to stills, he writes, "the Pixel 4A goes toe-to-toe with the iPhone 11 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S20 -- and often wins."
- In Insta 2020, Dave Williams provides a few tips on making the most of Instagram. "The truth is it's the vivid, vibrant colors, scenes packed with action, adventure and things people can relate to that actually do the best and attract the most attention," he writes. "Also, cats!"
- Nathan Ingraham reports Google Is Releasing a Free Phone Backup Tool for iOS. Android users can back up their phones for free, too.
- In Last Hurrah? iMacs Get Intel Processor Upgrade, All-SSD Storage, T2 Chip, Jason Snell reports "You can order one with the same glare-killing 'nanotexture' glass texture as on Apple's Pro Display XDR. If you live in a very bright environment and the glare is making you sad, this upgrade might be worth it. Regardless of which texture, though, the iMac display also now supports TrueTone."
