Saturday matinees long ago let us escape from the ordinary world to the island of the Swiss Family Robinson or the mutinous decks of the Bounty. Why not, we thought, escape the usual fare here with Saturday matinees of our favorite photography films?

So we're pleased to present the 358th in our series of Saturday matinees today: C&GXCC Winning Images 2020.

This 2:51 slide show presents the winning images of the Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross Camera Club for the year 2019-2020. The villages of Chalfonts and town of Gerrards Cross are near Buckinghamshire, England.

The club is a founding member of the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs, a member of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain and is a Centre Section of the Gerrards Cross Memorial Community Association.

'It is more important to click with people than it is to click the shutter.'

Its healthy motto is, "It is more important to click with people than it is to click the shutter." And that's an invitation.

We can't jump across the pond these days but we did enjoy taking a look at this collection of beautiful images. We thought you'd be inspired by it too.

As the images prove, it isn't just a social club. "The objectives of the club are to foster an interest in photography, to provide a means for the exchange of photographic knowledge and to promote a congenial social atmosphere amongst its members and guests," their mission statement reads.

And these days not even the coronavirus stymies them. They're holding meetings via Webex.

Among the categories in which members competed were Mono Open, Mono Set Subject: Space, Color Open, Color Set Subject: Space, Color Set Subject: A Different Angle, Street Photography, Three of a Kind, Landscape and Wildlife. Both the winner and runners up are shown.

And you'll be hard pressed to tell one from the other. They're all good.
