OWC Announces Mercury Extreme Pro 6-GB SSD

Other World Computing has announced the Mercury Extreme Pro 6-GB SSD, optimized for high-performance computing tasks including audio, video, photo editing and production, including in-camera use with Black Magic cameras, AJA and more.
While some drives drop to 50-60-MB/s after their cache is exhausted, the Mercury Extreme Pro is up to 10x faster than what many hard drives deliver today after their peak speed is fatigued with as little as 2-3 percent of the hard drive written.
Built using today's highest quality NAND flash memory and controller design, the Mercury Extreme Pro 6-GB SSD delivers sustained real-world-tested read/write speeds over 500-MB/s throughout its storage capacity.
For Macs or PCs with a 6-GB SATA drive bay, the Mercury Extreme Pro 6-GB SSD is the fastest 2.5-inch SSD available today, OWC said. Older computers with 3-GB SATA connections are limited to 300-MB/s.
