Sony Releases New SDK Focused on Product Photography Share This on LinkedIn   Tweet This   Forward This

8 December 2020

Sony has announced the release of a new camera automation software development kit with enhancements for product photographers, permitting them "to simplify, speed up and standardize" their work, the company said.

In particular, the addition of multi-camera operation allows precisely triggering of all cameras, allowing products to be captured from multiple angles. The new SDK is also compatible with macOS, the operating system most-used by product photographers, the company said, while also available for Windows and Linux.

The SDK, which enables control of white balance, resolution, image compression, zoom, focus and video triggering, among others, will support the Sony a9 II, Sony a7R IV, a7S III and Sony a7C camera bodies.
