The First Sunset of 2021 Share This on LinkedIn   Tweet This   Forward This

4 January 2021

When we published an image of the first sunset of 2019, we wrote, "You can count on a few difficulties in the new year." That's always true but we've probably never been so forewarned as we have been for 2021.

January 1, 2021. Nikon D300 with 18-200mm Nikkor at 90mm (135mm equivalent), f8, 1/125 second and ISO 200. Processed in Adobe Camera Raw.

It's going to be better than 2020, we certainly hope, but it isn't going to be easy.

You might say there's a cloud hanging over 2021. You might even call that cloud 2020.

And just to illustrate the point, our first sunset of 2021 peeked out from a storm arriving off the Pacific on January 1.

We haven't had a sunset since.

Still, we know that golden globe remains beyond the clouds. It's the truth that sets you free, not the fantasies that mollify the deluded. It will shine on us again this year.

Just you bet.
