In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at an ICP exhibition, an SFMOMA exhibition, a USF exhibition, Circus Vision, buying a camera and stock photography.

  • Inward at the International Center of Photography features the work of Djeneba Aduayom, Arielle Bobb-Willis, Quil Lemons, Brad Ogbonna and Isaac West. The five emerging artists use an iPhone as a part of their practice, turning the lens on themselves to explore and capture the "unseen" instances of their lives.
  • SFMOMA opens Constellations: Photographs in Dialogue today with an online preview and video. "From Edward Weston to Zanele Muholi, the exhibition weaves together historical and contemporary voices, bringing fresh narratives to light," the landing page notes. The exhibition runs through Aug. 21, 2022.
  • The University of San Francisco will exhibit Elemental Exposures Revisions of the American Landscape from Nov. 20 to Feb. 20, 2022 at the Thatcher Gallery in the Gleeson Library-Geschke Center. "Kristiana Chan, Binh Danh, Bessma Khalaf and Dionne Lee help expand the canon of American landscape imagery by bringing diverse technical and conceptual approaches to envision the subject." In addition to the preview images, links to the photographers' portfolios are also provided.
  • The Japanese creative group and Adobe Stock Contributors Circus Vision have created a portfolio that is "playful, serious and bracingly fresh," Adobe writes in a blog post introducing the collection.
  • Mike Johnston explains How to Buy a Camera (In Five Principles). Just for fun, posit the opposite principles and concoct an argument for each of them. In reality, of course, the journey usually begins without a choice. You simply work with what you have been handed down.
  • Can You Still Make Money From Stock Photography? Dan Havlik finds a husband-and-wife team who run a popular YouTube channel on which they explain how they sold over $47,000 in stock photos.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
