In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Juri Nesterov, TTArtisan 23mm lens, inkjet papers, perfect skin, MaskerAid and spring flowers.

  • In A Street Photographer's Photos of Ukraine, Juri Nesterov photographs life in Kyiv from 2001 to 2021. "Most of the time I hear the question: 'Where was this picture take?' or 'What kind of camera? Which lens?'," says Juri. "I really want to answer: "In the world of people with their thoughts, disappointments and hopes."
  • Kirk Tuck bought a $99 TTArtisan 23mm f1.4 APS-C Lens for his Leica CL and shows off his first images in a slide show. "The lens is the perfect size for the Leica CL body and the CL is a great match for the lens as the camera's focus peaking feature is one of the best I've used," he writes.
  • Kevin Raber continues his PXL Print series with Choosing an Inkjet Paper. "One of the best way to choose a paper that is right for you is to visit different paper company Web sites and see if they offer a sample pack," he writes. You might surprise yourself, as Raber did.
  • Dan Havlik introduces Justin Lauren's 10:35 tutorial revealing Three Photoshop Secrets for Getting Perfect Skin in Portraits. Exposure recover, recoloring recovered color and balancing overall skin color, in short.
  • Casey Liss has released MaskerAid for iOS "to quickly and easily add emoji to images." It will also automatically mask any faces it detects with emoji. Jason Snell liked it in beta. "If you want to deface photos with emojis or cover up faces of people who didn't consent to have their faces shared on the Internet, it does the trick in nifty fashion," he writes.
  • Albert Dros offers 13 Tips on How to Photograph Tiny Spring Flowers. "Spring is around the corner and the little flowers start to pop up everywhere," he writes. Go get 'em.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
