In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the January 6 Hearings, Earth Photo 2022, Kate Woodman, phone photography tips and the Godox AD-200 Pro.

  • In The Spectacle of the Jan. 6 Hearings Consumes Washington (gift link), New York Times photographer Sinna Nasseri reflects on the impact of the hearings in words and pictures.
  • The Guardian showcases images from the shortlist of the Forestry England and the Royal Geographical Society's Earth Photo 2022 contest. They are on exhibit at the Royal Geographical Society in London until Aug. 26.
  • Suzanne Sease presents Sisters, the personal project of Kate Woodman. Demonstrating "how color could be used effectively in set design, wardrobe and post processing to help tell a story," it had its genesis in a tutorial focused on color theory for photographers. And a grandmother's kitchen magnet.
  • Derrick Story shares Five Tips for Photographers Who Shoot With iPhones.
  • Kirk Tuck is satisfied with his Portable Flash System. He has six requirements and the Godox AD-200 Pro units answer the bell.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
