With BA.5 on the loose, we're still playing it close to home. Two elderly, disabled people rely on us to forage and hunt for them so we have to be careful. But does that mean we can't even look out the window?

Summer Fog. Nikon D300 with 18-200mm Nikkor at 130mm (195mm equivalent), f11, 1/500 second and ISO 200. Processed in Adobe Camera Raw.

Summers are notoriously foggy around here because when the heat from the Central Valley hits the cool air off the Pacific Ocean, that's what you get. Fog.

And we aren't complaining. It's what us natives call our natural air conditioning. And we suspect the whole of England would, at the moment, love to have it installed.

But it can be dreary if you're the type who likes to lather on the lotion and bake on the beach.

We are the type to pour a warm (or warming) brew and gently drop the needle on an old jazz recording. The fog works just fine as special effects.

So this image is a cozy one for us. We hear Tony Bennett singing Michel Legrand's You Must Believe in Spring with Bill Evans tickling the ivories.

See? Isn't that better than burning on a beach?

We're taking one charge to the dentist and the pharmacy today and squeezing in a visit to the other so we prepared this piece on Sunday.

We must believe in love.
