In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at photos of last week, more of them, Natacha de Mahieu's composites, old slide shows on DVDs and Web site creation.

  • From a handler swimming alongside a horse in the Caribbean Sea to Somalis clearing wreckage after gunmen stormed a hotel in Mogadishu to Cocoa farmers protesting in La Paz, the Associated Press highlights images from the Last Week.
  • Alan Taylor presents 35 Photos of the Week that range from Jupiter to drought to flooding with hot-air ballooning and a mass wedding thrown in, too.
  • In Theatre of Authenticity, Belgian photographer Natacha de Mahieu composites images that question "the way we travel and the reasons we have for going to specific places." Prepare to see crowds taking selfies at remote locations.
  • Derrick Story sat through a few Slideshows From the Past he produced using iDVD. "I don't think anyone ever watched a Ken Burns movie with a top of mind thought, 'I wished the pictures had a bit more dynamic range.'" he writes. The story trumps technology.
  • In Your Website and How It Was Created, a self-described "mom and housewife" asks for recommendations for her photography business, which she's developed since 2006.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
