In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Alan Burles, Mathieu Richer Mamousse, Z lenses and Elliott.

  • In A Lighter Side of Life, Alan Burles writes about being inspired by Elliott Erwitt's photographs "to see the extraordinary within the ordinary."
  • Anima features the colorful images of French photographer Mathieu Richer Mamousse documenting pilgrimages all over the world. "I'm always trying to keep in mind that the photo has to be in some sense pretty, with good lighting and good composition; but essentially, it also needs to represent the subjects I'm photographing in the most accurate way," he says.
  • In End of 2022 Z Lens Status, Thom Hogan counts over 155 lenses with a Z mount. "Do you need more?" he wonders. Random Z Lens Questions Answered, a companion piece, is worth a few minutes, too.
  • In Boxing Day! And Elliott, Mike Johnston describes his rough holiday weekend. His generator fried during a blackout and kept him off the grid when power was restored. "All told I was without power for 19 hours during the worst part of the storm," he writes.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look five years back. And please support our efforts...
