Our best wishes for you during the new year always start with our traditional eConcert to end the old one. This year we return to two of our classics: images of Judy's band and the sound of Guy Lombardo's orchestra playing Auld Lange Syne.

This year we returned to the Internet Archive for the audio portion of our program. Like every other cultural treasure in the country, it needs your help. Your donation will be matched 2-to-1 until midnight. A nice way to end the year, don't you think?

For our selection, we found this recording of Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians with the Lombardo Trio singing the words. It was performed on Dec. 29, 1943, as World War II raged. It was probably fitting that the flip side of the 78 had Home on the Range.

As for the poetry, Robert Burns is to blame. If you need the words, see our Auld Lang Syne, My Friend! from 2013, which features our contemporary translation of Robert Burns' classic.

And as far as the images go, they're a crop of the ones we took in 2017, which are among our favorites of Judy's band, the wind up toys we once gave as a Christmas present to our sister-in-law, who insisted they reside with us.

Those are the facts. But the sentiment is something else. We're very grateful for your company. And whatever the new year brings, both its good and bad, we hope to be here to share it with you.

Happy new year!
