In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Layla May Arthur, Sid Grossman, 98.5mm and photography apps.

  • Kate Mothes was taken by the Narrative Paper Sculptures of Layla May Arthur, who photographs the dramatically lit scenarios herself.
  • Mike Johnston plugs The Life and Work of Sid Grossman by Keith F. Davis, the first book ever published on the photographer.
  • Not My Most Productive Afternoon, Kirk Tuck admits. He loved the camera (Leica CL) and lens (Sigma 65mm f2.0) he took on a walk, but not the combination. "I should have realized early on that the equivalent focal length (comparing APS-C to full frame) was 98.5mm," he writes. "Very tight for urban street photography. Too tight."
  • Jason Row compiles a list of The 10 Best Photography Apps for smartphones. "Anything we need to calculate, visualize or organize as a photographer can be aided by an app," he writes.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
