In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Bernheim Forest, Austin, Instagram trends and product boxes.

  • In 2022, photographer Carla Rhodes became the first environmental artist-in-residence of Kentucky's Bernheim Forest. Her photos of the privately held 16,000-acre oasis show what's at stake as a 12-mile gas pipeline threatens to destroy it.
  • Kirk Tuck photographs A Sleepy Day in Austin with a Leica SL and the Lumix 50mm at f2.8 or f4.0. He's tempted by the announcement of a new, lower priced, Leica 50mm Summicron (there's a 35mm, too).
  • Jasenka Grujin lists the top Instagram Photo Editing Trends. "This list of editing trends includes the most common approaches I've seen on various IG profiles that feature not only portraiture and products but also street photography or more experimental abstract shots," she writes.
  • A Reddit poster asks Do You Keep Your Boxes? And there are some amusing replies in the comments. "I shoot Sony. Not only do we keep the boxes, we take photos of the boxes and post it online! Box fetish gang, yeah yeah!" for example.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
