In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Museum of Lost Memories, a Norwegian fisherman, Company 605, selecting colors, attachments, hidden features, fish and artificial intelligence.
- In Museum of Lost Memories, Christopher Booker interviews David Gutenmacher about his digital museum dedicated to returning found photos, slides and movie film to descendants who have never seen them.
- Dave Williams shares some Lightroom Mobile Moments from Norway. "One of the projects we undertook here was to transform Russell into a Norwegian fisherman, putting him in character inside a 195 year old cabin at Svin_ya Rorbuer," he writes.
- Joe McNally remembers Dancing With the Light with the dancers of Company 605, who he hopes to work with again this summer.
- Julieanne Kost details Eight Ways to Select Colors in Photoshop in this 7:40 video:
- Kirk Tuck adds A Few Attachments to his Leia CL to improve the experience. "If you 'kit out' the camera with two additions you can transform the handling from 'fussy' to exemplary. Set up right it's a great, smaller and lighter street shooting camera. Or travel camera. Or personal 'art' camera, etc."
- In Your Camera's Hidden Features, Derrick Story shares some tips for the Sony A7 IV, Ricoh GR III, Fujifilm X100V, OM System OM-1 and the iPhone.
- Judy Siegel-Itzkovich reports Scientists Find That Fish Can Recognize Themselves in Photos. "Interestingly, the cleaner fish did not attack photos with their own faces but did attack those with the faces of unfamiliar cleaner fish. Together, these results indicate that the cleaner fish determined who was in the photograph based on the face in the photo, but not the body, in a similar way as humans do," she writes.
- In Are We Going Out of Business?, photographer rep Heather Elder talks turkey about artificial intelligence. She lists six "scary points" and two opportunities before concluding, "I think it is very important right now to have an educated point of view about it."
