In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Ukraine after a year of war, street photography tips, pricing an ad campaign, Euphoric 100 film and Larry Haynes.

  • The Associated Press has published a selection of images of A Year of War in Ukraine as the one-year anniversary approaches on Feb. 24.
  • Dahlia Ambrose lists Eight Tips on Street Photography to capture "more dynamic" images. "Street photographs are about capturing life in the streets and they need to have a story in them, even if it is capturing the simplest or smallest of things in the streets," she writes.
  • Bryan Sheffield prices a three-day shoot for an Advertising Campaign for a Restaurant Group at a little under $95,000. Covid safety accounted for $6,000 of that. Parking and transportation was $4,700.
  • Chris Gampat glowingly reviews the cross-processing Atlanta Film Co Euphoric 100. "Folks who care more about the moment captured will adore this film, the fact it's affordable and that it offers a unique look," he writes. There's a healthy collection of sample images taken with a Fujifilm Natura S.
  • Sam Spangler reports Legendary Hawaii Surf Photographer Captures His Own Final Moments. Larry Haynes collapsed at Hawaii's Laniakea Beach and died from a heart attack after shooting at the Banzai Pipeline Hawaii at Ehukai Beach Park. Friends found 40 files on a GoPro he had been using. "It's really cool. In the footage as well because he gets his wave and right before he turns off the camera he had this Larry smile that we all knew from him," one said.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
