The Royal Meteorological Society announced it will host a free live Zoom session chaired by Liz Bentley, RMetS chief executive and judge of the competition, featuring "hints, tips and anecdotes to help you plan your weather photography, take your photo and get it noticed."

There will be three presentations:

  • Forecaster Kirsty McCabe who will share her insider knowledge on understanding weather patterns and provide tips on when and where to capture the best shots.
  • Following her talk, the winner of last year's competition, Christopher Ison, will share his winning entry and offer a few tips of his own.
  • Digital marketer and social media consultant Paul Sutton will share his tips for building an online community for your photography and increasing the visibility of your talent.

The presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

The Zoom session will be held April 25 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PST). The Weather Photographer of the Year 2023 competition is open for entries from April 25 to June 27.

Weather Photographer of the Year 2023

To celebrate the launch of Weather Photographer of the Year 2023, the Royal Meteorological Society will be hosting a free live Zoom session on April 25 (7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) packed full of hints, tips and anecdotes to help you plan your weather photography, take your photo and get it noticed.

Kirsty McCabe, an experienced broadcaster and qualified forecaster, will kick off the session by sharing insider knowledge on understanding weather patterns and tips on when and where to capture the best shots. Following her talk, the winner of last year's competition, Christopher Ison, will share his winning entry and offer tips for capturing your own magical moments.

Digital marketer and social media consultant Paul Sutton will round out the line-up of speakers by sharing tips for building an online community for your photography and increasing the visibility of your talent. The event will be chaired by Liz Bentley, chief executive of the Royal Meteorological Society and head judge of the competition.

After hearing from the speakers, the floor is yours to ask questions.
