In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the week in pictures, a sandhill crane, Easter Week, worries, income and the five senses.

  • The Associated Press presents The Week in Pictures from Holy Week celebrations to protests in France over the nationwide resistance to a government proposal to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64. The global selection was curated by AP photo editor Tomas Stargardter in Mexico City.
  • Outdoor Photographer's Photo of the Day is Sandhill by Stan Bysshe. "A foggy morning sunrise gave a perfect setting for sandhill cranes landing in a field to feed," he says. "The winter light in the high desert at Bosque del Apache rarely disappoints."
  • Emilio Morenatti and Jennifer O'Mahony present some dramatic images from Easter Week in Spain captured by the Associated Press. "Millions of Spaniards take to the road in the days leading up to Easter, traveling to see family or for a holiday break," they write. "For many, seeing traditional processions with painted religious icons that can weigh over a ton is a cathartic annual ritual, a time to reflect on past sorrows and current ills."
  • Kirk Tuck compiles a long list of Stuff Photographers Worry About that isn't very important as he takes a new Voigtlander 40mm f2.0 Ultron lens on a test drive. And returns with a slide show that shows what does matter.
  • Rob Haggart continues his series Photographers, How Much Do You Make? with five more contributions.
  • Russ Burden advises you to See It With Your Ears to become a better photographer. "What if I toss smell, hearing, touch and taste into the baking side of my camera bag along with sight?" he wonders. "Give it a whirl as you may find it's the ultimate meal for which you've searched all these years."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
