In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at H.J. Hunter,Drew Smith, Photo London preview, two magazine covers, Adobe Express, sunsets and the Synology ds1522+.

  • H.J. Hunter presents images from his new book Once Upon a Time showing how western Europe is fitting itself into a new landscape after Covid, an economic downturn and pit closures.
  • Heidi Volpe talks to Drew Smith about photographing climbers ascending Jirishanca, the 19,993 foot peak in the Andes. "This mountain was big and beautiful, something you would imagine in a dream or draw when you think of a mountain," he says.
  • LensCulture presents 20 Preview Picks for Photo London. The photography fair runs from May 10 to 14 filling multiple floors of London’s famed Somerset House.
  • In Covers!, Joe McNally shows off two magazine covers in completely different styles he did for Nikon Owner.
  • In Create and Publish Your Photo Project Using Adobe Express, Julieanne Kost shows how to mix photographs, text and video using Adobe Express to tell your story on a Web page:

  • While being marooned on the island of Maui, Derrick Story reflects on The Thing About Sunsets. "One of the reasons I never get tired photographing Maui sunsets is because I always have other elements to play with," he writes.
  • In How I Left Drobo for the Synology ds1522+, Chris Gampat details the process of setting up a new NAS and copying 14-TB of data fro a Drobo to it.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
