DxO Releases 1,192 new Optics Modules: Unmatched corrections for Canon R8, R50 and kit lenses, plus the latest glass from Nikon and Sony

DxO Optics Modules give photographers the best possible performance from their gear, correcting lens softness and other imperfections with unparalleled precision. Boosting its selection of profiles for specific lens and camera combinations, DxO today announces support for the latest mirrorless gear from Canon -- the EOS R8 and EOS R50 and two accompanying kit lenses -- as well as the new Nikon 26mm f2.8, the Sony 20-70mm f4 and a selection of lenses and teleconverters from Sigma.

PARIS, France -- DxO Labs has announced the availability of 1,192 DxO Optics Modules. This latest batch includes support for the latest mirrorless cameras from Canon -- the EOS R8 and EOS R50 -- as well as Canon's latest kit lenses: the RF 24-50mm f4.5-6.3 IS STM and the RF-S 55-210mm f5-7.1 IS STM. Nikon's new pancake lens, the Nikkor Z 26mm f2.8 is also now supported, as is the new 20-70mm f4 from Sony, as well as a range of Sigma lenses and teleconverters for a variety of mounts.

Created in DxO's exclusive laboratory in Paris, DxO Optics Modules are designed for demanding photographers who seek the maximum possible image quality from their equipment. The new profiles -- and all previous Optics Modules -- are available across DxO's entire range of software: DxO PhotoLab, DxO PureRAW, DxO ViewPoint, DxO FilmPack and in Nik Collection as part of Nik Perspective Efex. This latest update means that more than 82,000 lens and camera combinations are now supported. DxO Optics Modules deliver noticeably better images, whether photographers use high-end gear or entry-level equipment and ensure the best possible quality from any lens and camera combination.

Accurate lens sharpening requires science, not generic solutions

DxO has always believed that lens softness correction should do more than simply apply a global level of sharpening across the entire image. Unlike other software, DxO Optics Modules take account of the level of softness across different parts of the frame, targeting sharpening precisely where it is required. For example, thanks to precise measurement, if a lens gets softer toward the edges, DxO Optics Modules take account of this; other software does not.

More image area thanks to advanced distortion control

In the DxO Lab, every lens is tested in order to understand geometric distortions. Curvature is corrected, addressing the barrel distortion often seen in wide-angle lenses and the pincushion distortion often found in telephoto optics. Such precise corrections across the full focal range of a lens mean that DxO Optics Modules can even deliver more image area than competing software.

Eliminate chromatic aberrations with precision

Focal length and the distance to the subject can cause the intensity of longitudinal and lateral chromatic aberrations to vary. DxO's tests take these factors into account, allowing for extremely precise corrections.

Intelligent vignetting removal

When rectifying darker areas toward the corners of the frame, which become more noticeable at wider apertures, DxO's vignetting corrections compensate for exposure levels while avoiding color shifts and the introduction of noise.

The benefits of a truly scientific approach

By testing specific lens and camera combinations, DxO Optics Modules take into account any small variations in performance, giving photographers the lens profiles they deserve: tailor-made corrections for their equipment. No other software offers this level of precision.
