In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Jacob Black, Magnum Square Print sale, Adobe Camera Raw update, the seasons, promptography and USB 3 SSDs.
- Joanna Crewswell talks to Jacob Black about I Can't Wipe Sunrise Down My Jumper to Get Rid of Fingerprints, the project he undertook after he suffering a head injury from a fall. "Immersed in the depths of his own brain, he began shooting images of his environment that seemed to embody something of the way he saw the world at the time -- spectral and illusory, uncanny and intense," she writes.
- Magnum is holding its Square Print Sale titled Vital Signs from Apr. 17 to 23 during which you can get signed or estate-stamped 6x6 museum-quality prints for $110 each. Or $7,000 for all 101 of them.
- Julieanne Kost covers the Denoise and Masking Updates in Adobe Camera Raw in this 6:14 video:
- Dave Williams has been Working With the Seasons. "As we move from one season to another, the lighting and conditions around us change and as photographers, we need to be able to adapt our style and gear to make the most of it," he writes.
- In Photographer Turns Down Prestigious Prize After Admitting Image Was AI-Made, Jenna Moon sums up the whole episode, providing a little background to go with Boris Eldagsen's suggestion we call his work "promptography."
- Howard Oakley asks How Well Do USB 3 SSDs Work on a Thunderbolt Hub?. "Mixing USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt 3 SSDs on a Thunderbolt 4 hub appears to work well, with little impact on the performance of the USB drive," he writes in one of his four conclusions.
