In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at arcades, Earth, mushrooms, Stan Evans, good gear, filters, assumptions and copyright claims.

  • French photographer Franck Bohbot has photographed California's Retro Games Arcades in a style "distinguished by his use of light and color."
  • The Associated Press presents Glimpses of a Changing Earth seen from above.
  • Jackie Andres showcases Pittsburgh-based photographer Barbora Batokova's images of The Gilled Underbellies of Fungi. "Venturing into the woods year-round, she explores new regions, hunts for mushrooms, captures images to learn about different species and brings the fruitful yield home to cook," she writes.
  • Heidi Volpe interviews Stan Evans about his shoot for Cisco. "Cisco reached out about creating a collection of images that would represent their brand worldwide for their Social Justice Campaign," he says.
  • Dave Williams loves it When Something Just Works. "Investing in quality camera gear that works the way it should is crucial for achieving our photographic goals," he writes. In short, pony up.
  • Derrick Story is Going Beyond the Polarizer with two less familiar filters you can't easily emulate digitally. One is an infrared filter and the other is a NiSi Black Mist Filter.
  • Thom Hogan succumbed to The Big Trip Gotcha after switching fro GoPros to the DJI Osmo recently. "I've referred to packing lists before and I've suggested that you must have one. But I'm going to add to that thought today: you also need a Load Procedure for everything," he writes.
  • Jason Row asks, Will Copyright Claims Companies Be the Saviour of the Stock Industry?

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
