In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Portugal, Arab American photographers, Renata Cherlise, Janet Kessler, incomes, monochrome minimalism, an Ikea chair and post-photography.

  • Lovely Lisbon! is an Adobe Express page Scott Kelby put together to share some of his favorite shots from a trip to Portugal. He used a Canon R6 II with a 24-240mm lens.
  • Feroz Khan presents brief introductions to seven Arab American Photographers. The list includes Simon Chetrit, Amir Saidi, Tamara Hijazi, Rania Matar, Farrah Skeiky, Nina Ahmadi and Tasneem AlSultan.
  • Paulette Beete interviews Renata Cherlise about her 'Black Archives' Project, among other things.
  • Paul Krantz profiles Janet Kessler, The San Francisco Resident Documenting the City's Coyote Population. "'I don't consider myself a photographer; rather, the camera is a notebook for recording data,' Kessler said, adding that she started shooting with a simple digital point-and-shoot and eventually upgraded to a mirrorless camera with a 650mm lens -- a setup that puts her on par with professional wildlife photographers," he writes. The piece is accompanied by a few of her images and links to more.
  • In a twist to his recent series on photographers' incomes, Rob Haggert adds the incomes of 10 Photographers New to the Business.
  • Jasenka Grujin presents 15 Stunning Examples of Black & White Minimal Photographs.
  • Felix Häcker's new monitor kept going to sleep for a few seconds every time he got out of his Ikea Chair. "It turns out that the fabric seat cover and/or the gas suspension creates such a strong electrostatic discharge that my screen shuts off for a short time," he writes.
  • In An Uncanny and Soulless Realm: AI Imagery Being Dubbed 'Post-Photography', Kelsey Smith objects to the use of that term to describe AI-generated images. He explains how artificial intelligence generates images. Compare to Aatish Bhatia's article Watch an AI Learn to Write in the New York Times today.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
