In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Iceland's glacial caves, women photographers, glassblowing, bagels, Google's Magic Editor, ACDSee Photo Studio 9 and the Contax RTS II.

  • Ebert presents Ryan Newburn's images of Iceland's Ancient Glacial Caves. "Occupying such an ancient and always evolving space is an experience that's difficult to photograph, Newburn shares, because the constant trickle of melting water, the roar of distant rivers or even the unique interplay of light and glacier are impossible to depict entirely," she writes.
  • The Guardian continues its coverage of Photo London with a selection of images by Women Photographers from the Hyman Collection. You read that right.
  • Suzanne Sease features Eric Pohl's personal project shooting The Art of Glassblowing. "The first thing you notice when you get up close and personal with glassblowing is the heat," he writes. "Not only are there multiple furnaces raging at over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, but there's heat radiating off the molten glass itself as the artist works it." And not only that but your lens is, uh, glass.
  • Joanna Della Penna had the enviable task of making a couple dozen photographs of bagels for Everything You Need to Know About the East Bay's Bagel Boom. Then she had to write the story. "Call it a bagel boom, call it "everything bagels, everywhere, all at once," but we're sure we're not alone in recently finding ourselves digging sesame seeds out of our keyboard (and teeth)," she writes.
  • Jay Peters shows how Google's New Magic Editor uses artificial intelligence "make major edits to a photo without professional tools."
  • Jason Row reviews ACDSee Photo Studio 9 for Mac which he calls a "good value for those wanting to avoid a monthly payment." We tried to run it here some time ago but found it impossible to access essential features (like image editing in the Develop module) even with technical support's help.
  • Mike Johnston has published the first part of his look back at The Contax RTS II, which he finds "quite cheap on eBay."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
