In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Pink Lady Food Photographer, Pham Huy Trung, Vanessa Martin, the Nikon Z 8, Drobo and Women Photograph Mentorship Program.

  • Matt Fidler shows off some of the winning images in this year's Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year. Great fun.
  • In The Rich Textures and Colors of Vietnam's Agriculture, Grace Ebert features Pham Huy Trung's aerial photos of his native Vietnam. "Some of his most recent photos center on those gathering lush vegetation in the fields, while others take viewers to the next step in the production cycle, glimpsing the vibrant buckets and neatly packed rows of fish at the markets," she writes.
  • In Capture the World in a New Way, Vanessa Martin shows how she uses Lightroom to enhance her travel photos. She compares her work to painting in this two-minute video. "Photography is like using a different kind of brush on a bigger canvas," she says.
  • Thom Hogan examines The 'Why It's Not for Me' Posts circulating about the Nikon Z 8. "Personally, the Z8 is becoming more and more my favorite all-around camera," he writes.
  • Wesley Hilliard reports Drobo Parent Company StorCentric Shifts to Chapter 7 Bankruptcy "after failing to find a buyer or reorganize its company after Covid-19, leaving Drobo and Retrospect customers without any information."
  • Women Photograph is now accepting applications for its Mentorship Program. "This year, we will pair five early career photographers with an industry leader as a mentor and provide $2,000 in support for work on a local visual storytelling project over the course of six months," the organization said. Deadline: May 31.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
