In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Guardian readers, Carl Zeiss 35mm f2.0 Biogon, real life stories and more on specularity.

  • The Guardian showcases its Readers' Best Photos. You can submit a photo for publication in its online galleries and/or on the letters page.
  • Kirk Tuck snaps the Carl Zeiss 35mm f2.0 Biogon on a Leica CL shows what happened after he zone focused all day long. "And doing the zone focusing with the lens set to f8.0 meant that I could just put the focusing ring at 15 feet and everything from about 7 feet to infinity would be in acceptable focus!," he writes. "Geez. It's like having a fully automatic camera."
  • Derrick Story shares a few "real life stories" Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone as photographers.
  • Jim Kasson continues his exploration of Specularity with a second installment that considers the light source.

We've received a few timely subscription renewals this week and want to acknowledge them here with a big thank you. Meanwhile more to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
