In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Alain le Garsmeur, five LGBT photographers, Erik Vroons, Tim Walker, the Pentax Monochrome, a work day, political photo books and creative street photography.

  • From Belfast to the Karakoram Mountains features the photojournalism of Alain le Garsmeur on exhibit at this year’s Belfast Photo festival. "His global reputation and range of subjects make him one of the most important photojournalists of his era."
  • Feroz Khan features Five LGBT Photographers With Incredible Stories. They include Carlos Hernandez, Ashley Zhang, Cherisha Kay Norman, Ericka Jones-Craven and Annie Flanagan.
  • In Finding Common Ground in Street Photography, Erik Vroons explores the genre by reflecting on the work of Dutch photographers Joep Hijwegen, Julie Hrudová, Bart Koetsier and Rolf van Rooij.
  • In The Beauty of Collaboration, British photographer Tim Walker tells Laura Hubber what happened during the shoot for his new Getty commission. "My job is to make a photograph that celebrates an aspect of humanity, that looks at the past and also looks at the future, sort of like a bridge between the past and the future," he says.
  • In Here Are My Reactions to the Pentax Monochrome, Mike Johnston presents "a few of my personal reactions, 'global and local,' you might say, to the first B&W-specific dSLR."
  • Kirk Tuck recounts Another Day at Work. "I worked as a photographer today. Not a pontificator," he writes. And tomorrow he'll email the invoice.
  • Andrew Molitor continues his reflections on the medium with Political Photo Books. "Whatever happens to the photo book form and I do believe in the form, it must accept that the photograph begins and ends with the testimony of that-which-was," he writes.
  • Jasenka Grujin suggests How to Capture More Creative Street Photography with three tips.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
