In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Nigerian photographers, Latin America, Documerica, cameras as fashion statements and workmanship.

  • In A Landscape of Organized Chaos: Nigerian Photographers at MoMA (gift link), Nigerian writer and art critic Yinka Elujoba reviews New Photography 2023, 151 works by seven Nigerian artists, including Amanda Iheme, Logo Oluwamuyiwa, Karl Ohiri, Yagazie Emezi, Abraham Oghobase, Akinbode Akinbiyi and Kelani Abass.
  • Associated Press photo editor Anita Baca curates the Week in Pictures from Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Documerica presents free restored public domain high-resolution photographs of 1970s America. Over 20,000 photographs make up the collection held by the U.S. National Archives. And they all are now in the public domain.
  • Kirk Tuck riffs on Cameras as a Fashion Statement. "Seems to me that the old Leica M series film rangefinders have become the 'little black dress' of the fashion world while everything else is a nod to ever-changing fashion," he writes. "Turn up those collars, grab a pair of Guccis and make sure you have a matching camera to complete the outfit."
  • Mike Johnston notes An Interesting Thing About Workmanship. "You can't pay someone to do better than their best," he writes.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
