In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Pamplona, the World Architecture Festival shortlist, Florida, travel portraits, painting tools, solving problems, Frameright, social media and an Affinity sale.

  • Alan Taylor showcases 16 photos of The Running of the Bulls in Pamplona.
  • The Guardian features the World Architecture Festival shortlist. The 140-person judging panel will pick winners by the end of the year.
  • Grace Ebert presents Benjamin Dimmitt's Unflinching Look at ecological changes in the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge some 70 miles north of Tampa on Florida's Gulf Coast. The images will be published in a forthcoming book.
  • Jason Row shares some tips to help take Amazing Travel Portraits. "Our job as photographers taking travel portraits is to convey both a sense of the location and the character of the person we are shooting," he writes. "Get it right and you can go home with some wonderfully emotive images."
  • Julieanne Kost shares Ten Tips for Working With the Painting Tools in Photoshop in 4:28:

  • In Solve User Problems, Thom Hogan explains the difference between 32-bit float and 24-bit linear audio.
  • In 10 Questions to a Founder: Frameright, Paul Melcher interviews CEO Marina Ekroos. "A recent study reveals that 76 percent of graphic designers dedicate at least 20 hours each week just to resizing graphics," he writes. "That’s where Frameright steps in."
  • Dave Williams suggests a few Essential Socials for Photographers. Eleven, in fact, including Threads.
  • Affinity's Summer Sale takes 25 percent off all apps and add-ons.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
