In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Rhodes, children, a Leica CL slide show, Vivienne Gucwa and Nikon Z 8.

  • The Associated Press reports Rhodes Burns while heat waves ravage the rest of Greece. "As tourists start to trickle back to the Greek island of Rhodes, some people are spending their vacation on empty beaches amongst charred trees and burnt land," writes Petros Giannakouris.
  • In NYC's Children of the Smoke, Michael Shaw and Cara Finnegan discuss Clark Hodgin's photo of three young people in Central Park as New York City suffers from thick smoke and otherworldly air caused by over 160 wildfires in Quebec and other parts of Canada:

  • Kirk Tuck takes his stripped down Leica CL and Carl Zeiss 35mm f2.0 ZM lens for a walk and comes back with a slide show. "I walked from one side of downtown to the other and shot well over a hundred frames," he writes. "I knew I wouldn't keep them all but sometimes it's nice just to see what stuff will look like when it's been photographed."
  • Chris Gampat explains How Sony Cameras Help Vivienne Gucwa, who has Type 1 blindsight. Gucwa posts on her Tumblr blog NY Through the Lens and is the author of NY in the Snow, which we reviewed briefly in 2017.
  • Mike Johnston suggests The Mighty Nikon Z 8 is now the top amateur camera. But there's one problem with it (which he promises to discuss tomorrow). The one problem we have with it is the $4,000 price tag (body only).

We're rather liking how Arc handles bookmarks in a hierarchical side panel, essentially outlining your browsing. It's easy to move around and even easier to update. More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
