In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at LensCulture street photography awards, Africa, night sky photography gear, film supplies, JPEGmini Lightroom Plug-In and a Western Digital lawsuit.
- LensCulture has posted the winners and finalists of its Street Photography Awards. "These 37 photographers from 15 countries have captured moments that might otherwise vanish in the blink of an eye," the company wrote.
- In An Amazing Workshop in Africa, Joe McNally writes, "Along with my wonderful friend and fellow Nikon Ambassador Tamara Lackey, we recently taught two photo safaris in Kenya and Uganda."
- Dahlia Ambrose suggests The Best Camera and The Best Lens for night sky photography.
- Mike Johnston asks himself, What Film + Developer + Paper Would I Use Today? He'd scan the 8x10 prints, too.
- Hillary Grigonis reviews JPEGmini Lightroom Plug-In. "If resizing images for the web makes your heart ache, JPEGmini is a great buy," she writes. We use the free ImageOptim for the same thing.
- Thomas Claburn reports Western Digital Sued Over Claims of Data-Trashing SanDisk, My Passport SSDs. The complaint "alleges the Western Digital SanDisk 2TB Extreme Pro SSD purchased by plaintiff Nathan Krum in May for $180 failed because of an undisclosed flaw, which also affects SanDisk Extreme Pro, Extreme Portable, Extreme Pro Portable and WD My Passport SSD models since January."
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
