In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Fay Godwin, Tamaki Yoshida, Retro Sydney, trees, carry-on tips and a used camera.
- Fay Godwin's Land of Hope: Britain's Scenic Beauty presents the British landscape photographer's images on display as Under a Turbulent Sky at Kestle Barton in Cornwall until Oct. 28.
- In Negative Ecology, Marigold Warner looks at the kaleidoscopic photographs of Tamaki Yoshida created using "chemical disruptions orchestrated in the darkroom." She writes, "These damaged images seemed like a perfect expression of the impact we unknowingly cause on the environment."
- Retro Sydney 1950 to 2000 showcases images from a new book taken from Nathan Mete’s popular Retro Sydney Instagram account.
- Kate Mothes takes a look at a new book of Remarkable Photographs of Trees. Looking At Trees, features an introduction by artist Sophie Howarth and images by more than two dozen contemporary photographers including Beth Moon, Marc Alcock and Myoung Ho Lee.
- Derrick Story has some advice about How to Go Carry-On Only for a 10-Day Photo Trip. "In my shoulder bag that complements the carry-on suitcase, I have my MacBook Pro 14.2-inch laptop, iPad mini, AirPods, more lenses, cable kit and water bottle," he writes.
- In I Bought a Used Medium Format Camera, Jason Row explains why he acquired a seven-year-old Fujifilm GFX 50S. "The whole camera design is built around stills photography, taking your time and understanding what you are doing," he writes.
