In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the week in pictures, Reuben Wu, Kirk Tuck, sushi, Adobe MAX and ISOlessness.

  • The Associated Press presents The Week in Pictures including Jewish men in Jerusalem's Old City, Lebanese-Armenian protesters in Ain Aar and Argentina's Gaston Togni injured during a semifinal soccer match in Buenos Aires. The selection was curated by Subramoney Iyer in New Delhi, India.
  • Grace Ebert showcases images from Reuben Wu's The Inner Landscape commissioned by Apple and captured on an iPhone. Wu shoots geological formations at night visited by a lighted drone whose aerial patten he records.
  • Kirk Tuck share more of his "market" photography in A 50mm Lens and a Decade Old Camera. "It's the not the brand or type of camera that I find important to my enjoyment of photography but the layers of skill required, beyond setting the auto everything camera menus, that keeps my attention focused on making the images instead of just pointing and grabbing at stuff with an automated system," he writes.
  • In Sushi Made by Harold, Harold Davis photographs his latest creation after a lesson in making Temari sushi. It was too hot to fire up the stove or oven last night so we bought some sushi at the market for dinner. We would have photographed it, too, but we had our hands full with teak chopsticks and saki.
  • Julieanne Kost, still recovering from a broken arm, will host a remote session at MAX on Modern Tools for Creating Compelling Composites. The free session will be held Tuesday, October 10, from noon to 12:30 p.m. See more on Adobe MAX.
  • With ISOlessness at High ISO Settings, Jim Kasson posts his 18th piece on the Fujifilm GFX 100 II. This one compares image quality at ISO 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 and 8000. "The camera seems pretty ISOless in this range," he writes.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
