In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Epson International Pano Awards, a Sumo tournament, Adobe's Brooke Hopper on AI, the Leica CL and another income.

  • Alan Taylor presents the winners of the Epson International Pano Awards. "Organizers reported that they received 4,414 entries from 1,104 professional and amateur photographers in 102 countries this year, competing for the top spots in four categories for several special awards and for some of the cash prizes offered," he writes.
  • Lisa Michele Burns has been Photographing a Sumo Tournament in Tokyo. No flash and stay in your seat. "Due to the layout of the arena, it's really easy to photograph from almost any seat," she writes. "I was in the very back row and still loved the experience and came away with a lot of shots I was really happy with."
  • Kevin Ames interviews Brooke Hopper on Adobe and AI. "It's not just from the design perspective, but all the way up through our CEO. Engineers, everyone, are looking at this from like, how is this going to impact creators?" she says. "So, how can we approach this in a way that feels good, not just to our creators, but to us, because we are also creators?"
  • After traveling with the Leica Q2 and M models, Kirk Tuck gets emotional about his Leica CL, which reminds him of the Leica IIIf.
  • Rob Haggart continues his series on industry incomes with a Commercial, Sports, Portrait, and Lifestyle Photographer doing quite well. "In the age of everything being digital, I'm a huge fan of trying to meet as many people as you can in person," the photographer points out.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
