In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at mushrooms, Anne Eder, postage stamps, black-and-white conversions and incomes.

  • For the last few years Albert Dros has been capturing Mushrooms in Their Natural World. But this year he wanted to take a different approach from his usual macro portraits. "I wanted to blend the world of macro with the world of wide angle landscape," he writes.
  • In Sanctuary and Abjuration: Sentinels of the Ghostwood, Liz Sales reviews an exhibition of Anne Eder's images, sculptures and smells crafted from her forages in local woodlands.
  • Harold Davis has five of his images reproduced in New U.S. Postage Stamps of low denominations in which the number of blossoms in each image matches the value of the stamp. Got a little busy at 10 cents.
  • Thunder and lightning drive Kirk Tuck to Revisiting a Photoshoot From 2009 and turning the underwhelming color portraits into luscious black and whites.
  • Rob Haggart continues his series on industry incomes with a Photo Director and Photographer making $130K plus bonuses, stock and another $50K freelance. "If you want to get into my line of work be nice," she says.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
