In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at photos of the week, older women, Stéphane Arnaud, Kirk Tuck and incomes.

  • Alan Taylor presents 35 Photos of the Week including storm damage in a Denmark harbor, shrimp fishing on a Belgian beach, scenes from the the Pan American Games in Chile, a women's strike in Iceland, the WNBA-championship victory parade in Las Vegas, continued trench warfare in Ukraine, anguish and sorrow in Israel and Gaza and more.
  • In Older Women Star in Fashion Campaigns, Elena Goodinson curates a collection of famous faces including Maggie Smith, Charlotte Rampling, Helen Mirren and Mary Berry.
  • Stéphane Arnaud's Best Phone Picture was captured in "that fraction of a second in which everything happens at once," he tells Grace Holliday. He had been attracted to the red central cap of a Volvo's wheel cover when a woman in red strolled by behind the car. "I immediately stretched out my arm in her direction and hop, click-clack! It was spontaneous, instinctive," he says.
  • In The Sun Came Out, Kirk Tuck takes his Leica Q2 out for a walk and returns with a slide show. "Doorbell doesn't work. Please yell 'Ding-Dong!'" pleads one entry door posing for him.
  • Rob Haggart profiles an Associate Photo Editor making $67K plus up to $5K freelance on the East Coast. "My advice for anyone looking to get into this line of work is don't settle during the offer stage," she says. "HR is out to give you the hardest sales pitch of your life when trying to get you onboard."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
