In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Hall of Fame Awards, Print of the Week, the Leica M6, RAW+JPEG and incomes.

  • The International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum has announced its 2023 Hall of Fame Awards. Being inducted today at 6 p.m. CST are Nan Goldin, Vivian Maier, Bea Nettles and Matika Wilbur (who also picks up the Visionary Award).
  • Kevin Raber has started offering a Print of the Week made on an Epson 9570 printer with Baryta Archival Paper and archival inks. This week it's an image of the Harry Potter train crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct in the highlands of Scotland made with a 100-megapixel Phase One camera. He almost missed the shot, he confesses.
  • In The Once and Future M, Mike Johnston praises the Leica M6. "I like everything about it, from the brass top plate and black paint (yes, I like the brassed look -- sue me) to the 'Leitz' name on the red dot, which I'm sentimental about," he writes.
  • Lloyd Chambers answers a reader question about Picture Profile for RAWJPEG+. "I always shoot Raw+JPG SuperFine, because when reviewing images, I can assess detail much better with a full quality JPEG rather than the low-grade embedded JPEG," he writes.
  • Rob Haggart profiles a female Product Photographer (among other things) grossing 40K a year (and living on just 20K of that). "I think most people under 30 are really struggling with what is going on in our country and older generations are not understanding that most of us will never even be able to afford to buy a home let alone really afford groceries," she writes.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
