In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Suitcase Joe, remote portraits, being there, a $68K contract and Sonoma backup errors.

  • In Life on the Streets of Los Angeles, Sarah Gilbert features images from Suitcase Joe's new book Grey Flowers.
  • In Portraits From a Photo Shoot Far, Far Away (gift link), Vivian Ewing describes the collaboration between Kathy Ryan, New York Times directory of photography, and photographer Dina Litovsky on remote portraits of people who "had signed up to include a vial of their remains on a rocket to be launched into space."
  • Half the Battle Is Being There, Mike Johnston posits. And sometimes, he found, you can even go back.
  • Andrew Souders of Wonderful Machine negotiates a contract for Trade Show Photos for Healthcare Client for over $68K. "The estimate was quickly approved and the photographer was awarded the project," he writes.
  • Howard Oakley explores Backup Errors, iCloud Drive and the Limits of APFS. "If you encounter errors in backing up or anywhere similar, look carefully at the paths concerned," he writes. "If they are anywhere inside ~/Library/Application Support/FileProvider, that indicates an iCloud Drive problem."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
