In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at autumn, Sugimoto and Daido Moriyama retrospectives, an emotional support camera, the Fujifilm GF 100-200mm zoom and Gigli's Girls in the Windows.

  • Alan Taylor presents 23 photos of Autumn Colors and Autumn Chill in cities and countrysides across the Northern Hemisphere. "Get cozy in a warm sweater and enjoy this batch of recent fall photos," he writes.
  • In What Is Photography? (No Need to Answer That) (gift link), Emily LaBarge previews retrospectives of Japanese photographers Hiroshi Sugimoto and Daido Moriyama.
  • On the eve of Thanksgiving, Kirk Tuck fondly remembers his Emotional Support Camera. "Sure. A Leica for a psychological support prop is expensive," he writes. "But I'd rather have a prescription for a nice camera than for a bottle of Xanax." And prescription drug coverage.
  • In The GF 100-200, the Blind Men, and the Elephant, Jim Kason equates the elephant to the Fujifilm GF 100-200mm zoom. "There is a human tendency to think that the loser is a comparison test is perforce bad," he writes. "That's not the case in general and it's not the case here."
  • Is This the World's Highest-Grossing Photograph? (gift link), David Segal wonders. That would be Ormond Gigli's Girls in the Windows. "I moved them around to spread out the colors," Gigi said, "and told them to pose as if they were giving someone a kiss."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
