In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Pompeii, Northern Lights, Iris van Kerpen, David Williams, LaserSoft deals and KEH discounts.

  • Caitlin Shamberg takes us Inside the Ancient City of Pompeii via a new book of photographs by Luigi Spina commissioned by the Archeological Park of Pompeii in 2019. The 480-page Inside Pompei published by Getty lists for $172. In other Pompei news today, archeologists have discovered disturbing evidence of slavery in a bakery among the ruins.
  • In Northern Lights Photographer of the Year, Matt Fidler presents travel photography blog Capture the Atlas' sixth edition of its list.
  • Grace Ebert reviews Sculpting the Senses, an Iris van Kerpen retrospective on view now at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
  • In Music to Our Ears, Francis Hodgson interprets the work of David Williams by pointing our Williams remains a musician who chose cameras over musical instruments. "That seems to be the way he makes sense of his own work and it works for me," he writes. The Scottish photographer has just published the 176-page Dreaming Difference.
  • LaserSoft Imaging is offering a 30 percent discount on SilverFast, 20 percent off on IT8 targers ad 40 percent off three selected IT8 target through Dec. 18.
  • Used camera gear dealer KEH is offering a 10 Percent Discount through Dec. 11 with the code (SV1).

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
