In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at last week in pictures, Nordic winter, the Eggnog Project, International Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards winners, the Mac Mini M2 Pro and the impact of AI.

  • The Associated Press highlights its Week in Pictures for last week curated by AP photo editor Anita Baca in Mexico City.
  • Grace Ebert features the Magical Solitude of the Nordic Winter captured by Mikko Lagerstedt. "Sunlight filters through a candy-colored atmosphere, icicles clasp to the barren branches of a lone tree and the night sky appears like a glimmering blanket of stars, softly illuminating the terrain below," she writes. His exhibit The Solitude of Nature is on view through Jan. 31, 2024, at Kaari in Helsinki.
  • The Eggnog Project "is simply a collection of eggnog cartons found in grocery stores & bodegas by Madeleine Eiche."
  • Winners of the International Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards have been announced. Tony Hewitt (Australia) was named Photographer of the Year and Blake Randall (Canada) took the Photograph of the Year.
  • Jason Row reflects on the Mac Mini M2 Pro after using one for a month. "Sitting in front of the monitor, visually everything was the same," he writes. "Until I started working."
  • Hans Hartman interviews Lightricks CEO Zeev Farbman about The Game-Changing Impact of AI on the Photo Industry. "It's clearly a complete game-changer, meaning that we completely need to revisit our technological stack because it's obsolete," Farbman said. "It's true for us. It's true for Adobe, Autodesk, any toolmaker."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
