In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Siân Davey, Alex Vasyliev, Harold Davis and John Grande.
- Green Shoots: The Garden That Kept Growing features Siân Davey's images from her series The Garden. "Starting in 2020, Davey transformed her abandoned garden over three summers into a vibrant space, filled with wildflowers, birdsong and people." The series is currently being exhibited in a public space. Here's a time-lapse video of the installation:
- In Cultural Changes at the Coldest Place on Earth, Marigold Warner features photographs by Alex Vasyliev of the life and changing culture of the Evens, an indigenous tribe in his hometown of Yakutsk.
- Harold Davis assembled decaying leaves and a stem to create Hollyhock Lace. "'Lace' in this case seems to have been formed by the operations of time and small insects. Then again, beauty is where you find it," he writes.
- Suzanne Sease features Under the Table[top], the personal project of John Grande. "The idea resulted from a happy accident," he says. "I was shooting a down shot on a matte plexi surface with a light underneath. I was under the table adjusting the light and saw that the object I was photographing projected onto the surface."
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
