In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Ukraine, Ernest Cole, Kyaw Zay Yar Lin, Focus on Photography and Erwitt's studio.

  • In Ukraine Endures a Second Year of War, Associated Press photographers document "the past 12 months of death and destruction, agony and grief -- as well as the glimpses of joy -- that are staples of life during war."
  • In Lost Photographs of Black America, Vann Newkirk II showcase photographs from the 1960s and 1970s by Ernest Cole recently discovered in a Swedish bank vault. "Masterpieces find their moment and the rediscovery of these photographs comes at a time when they are once again sorely needed," he writes.
  • Grace Holliday interviews about Kyaw Zay Yar Lin's best phone picture, which he calls Happy Childhood Lives. He used a Redmi Note 10 Pro to capture children playing in the mud on banks of the Ayeyarwady River in Myanmar.
  • Focus on Photography is as new forum picking up where Photography on the Net left off.
  • Turns out Elliott Erwitt's Co-Op and Photo Studio Are Listed on Central Park West (gift link). Mike Johnston praised the photo of Erwitt in his ground floor studio seen at the end of the piece.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
