We bent down to inspect the bright pink paper flapping in the afternoon wind with a mysterious message. What could it be?

"Pls Leave in case we need :)," it said with a smiley face for emphasis.
Someone had left something behind but, suspecting it might come in handy later, asked it not be disposed of.
What had they left behind? Did they ever return, hoping along the way to find it? Was it finally saved or discarded?
We'll never know.
But, as a longtime follower of directions, we left the note where we found it. In case someone needs it.
