In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the week, the Parthenon, Stranger Things, popular camera systems, the Camp Snap CS-8 and Gampat's eye surgery.
- Jim Powell curates The Week Around the World in 20 pictures for the Guardian.
- Scaffolding around the Parthenon in Athens has been temporarily removed as restoration transitions to a new phase. Petros Giannakouris got some glamorous shots of the unobstructed view both during the day and at night.
- Reuters presents images of the cast of Stranger Things on the red carpet as they attended the premiere for the final season of their television series.
- Mike Johnston has published his Most Popular System Poll Results. There were a few surprises.
- Alberto Lima reviews the Camp Snap CS-8, a digital video camera "that borrowed heavily from the design of the Super 8 film cameras of the past." He concludes, "It's far from perfect -- there are some ergonomic quirks, a steep fall-off in image quality when using digital zoom and how cumbersome it can be to pack -- but even with its flaws, it's impossible to overlook how much joy this camera brings to the user and those around them."
- A Year After Eye Surgery, Phoblographer Chris Gampat wonders if it was worth it. "If anything, my life got immensely more complex," he writes.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
