In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at an ICE deportation center, Frank Gehry's buildings, Frank Gehry's halls and amphitheaters, memory prices and Cloud Dancer.
- Reuters goes Inside an ICE Deportation Center in Florida.
- The Associated Press showcases Architect Frank Gehry's Iconic Works in Photos. The Guardian has more.
- In Frank Gehry's Buildings Sound as Marvelous as They Look (gift link), Joshua Barone praises the acoustics of Gehry's halls and amphitheaters. The accompanying photos are pretty dramatic, too.
- Lisa Eadicicco reports Phones Might Get Pricier Next Year. "And it's not just phones. Any device that uses memory, from phones to tablets and smartwatches, could get pricier," she writes. "Memory prices are rising for consumer products because major manufacturers are instead ramping up production for AI data centers as artificial intelligence companies boom."
- Cloud Dancer is Pantone's color the year for next year. "Similar to a blank canvas, Cloud Dancer signifies our desire for a fresh start," the company said. "Cloud Dancer quiets the mind, encouraging true relaxation and focus that allows the mind to wander and creativity to breathe, making room for innovation." It's white.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
